Plab 2 Communication and Consultations Skills Workshop

Plab 2 Communication and Consultations Skills Workshop

ONLINE COMMUNICATION AND CONSULTATION SKILLS WORKSHOP

The first of our next two PLAB Workshops focusses on GMC Plab 2.

What is Plab 2?

The GMC's PLAB 2 is an OSCE exam made of 16 stations that last 8 minutes each. The stations are structured like a real life setting on an acute ward and on each is a different scenario; the types of scenarios typically faced by FY2 doctors on UK wards.

Why are communication skills important in Plab 2?

Sound interpersonal skills are essential in the GMC PLAB exam. Your examiners are watching to see how you bulld and maintain rapport with your patients, how you use a mixture of open and closed questions. They want to see you involve your patient in their patient-centred care, as well as how you demonstrate your professionalism, empathy and knowledge of ethical principles. In order to communicate your medical knowledge.

What does the course cover?

We prepare you to demonstrate your ability to handle consultations using the communication skills expected of a UK trained doctor Foundation Year 2.

What does the course include?

The course includes the following topics:

- Consultation skills

- Communication skills

- Breaking bad news

- Managing angry patients/relatives

What about the mock exam?

In our online breakout rooms, we provide you with mock examinations of the consultation stations with a trained actor to play your patient.

You will then need to complete your scenario against the clock.
