Cycling is a great way to exercise whilst exploring London’s beauty, we understand that our learners and especially those travelling to training from overseas will likely not have their bike with them. Bikes can be hired around London if this is the case, enabling you to explore the cycle routes included in this blog.
The cycle routes included in this blog are all free of traffic, located in parks mainly so if you’re an expert cyclist or a novice you will be comfortable and enjoy yourself.
Parkland Walk
This is a route from Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace, its 4 miles long and a great way to travel between two famous London locations. From Alexandra Palace you will be able to take in an incredible view of the whole of North London.
This spot makes a great place to have a break after the long cycle and maybe have a nice picnic, or just relax.
Regents Park
Located in the London borough of Westminster you can find one of the best traffic free cycle routes in Central London, the parks outer path is a 2.8-mile circuit in the blissful setting of Regents Park.
This particular park and cycling route are extremely popular with the London cycling community, so just a heads up, be prepared for a busy ride.
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Being beautifully landscaped for the London 2012 Olympics, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London is a great afternoon adventure for cycling enthusiasts. The park is extremely well maintained and contains many different cycling routes that you can spend time exploring and enjoying. There are large areas of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park that still is how it was during the London 2012 Olympic Games; this is sure to be a pleasant trip down memory lane.
Hampstead Heath
Hampstead Heath, in North West London is one of the largest and most well-known parks in London, there are many different pathways through the park to explore.
Be aware that certain areas of the park are pedestrian only, so be ready to dismount and walk for a brief period. Within Hampstead Heath, you can enjoy some of the most spectacular views in all of London.
Ingrebourne Hill
A hidden gem for those who are into mountain biking, featuring some of the best trails accessible near to London. The trail is located in a forest just outside of London, to the East in Essex near to Dagenham.
These trails vary in difficulty, so please be cautious when negotiating them and don’t cycle recklessly.
Overall, there are 2km of mountain biking trails in the area along with 3km of standard cycling paths meaning there is so much to explore.
