Return to Practise Nurses to be offered a golden hello of £1,000 to come back

Health Education England (HEE) has announced today that it will now be increasing the cash incentive for nurses who choose to return to nursing and midwifery practice from £500 to £1,000. This payment can be put towards expenses such as travel costs, childcare and books whilst they train. HEE has also agreed to cover the costs of the course, as part of the national return-to-practise-scheme.

Since the start of the scheme in 2014, almost 8,000 nurses and midwives have returned to practice.

The government maintains that it is on track to deliver on its manifesto commitment of 50,000 nurses by 2024-25.
