As many residents of the UK will now sadly expect, more rail strikes are planned for the month of August 2023. Unions have been in a long-standing dispute with the UK government over jobs, pay and conditions which has been going on for years as of July 2023.
These strikes are intended to cause disruption to those in the UK population who make use of the railways, this will affect commuters, students and families looking to get away for a weekend activity.
Despite this disruption to the journeys of many UK commuters, as well as the ongoing cost of living crisis affecting the country, the UK government have not been able to make an offer that the union have deemed acceptable. As a result of this, industrial action is likely to continue through and after the summer.
If you’re an overseas qualified Nurse, Doctor, Midwife or any other Healthcare Professional who is looking to train with us at IELTS Medical, you will need to check travel plans for any delays to your journey. Alternatives to travelling by train to London can include coach travel or a car ride from a friend or loved one.
The planned strike dates are from the 7th August – 12th August. These strikes will not affect the London Underground tube network.
