Specialities - NMC OSCE General (Adult) Nursing & Midwifery Training
A little bit about yourselfLouise is a practising Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, Infant Feeding Lead and Clinical Educator.
Your academic backgroundI embarked on my academic journey with a degree in health studies, and then dove into nurse training. After becoming a qualified adult nurse in 2011, I found myself in the neonatal unit, which was both fascinating and rewarding. My career then took me through roles in paediatric immunisation and gynaecology before I decided to spice things up with midwifery training in 2014. As a preceptor midwife post-graduation in 2015, I set my sights on exciting projects like being an infant-feeding research midwife and a public health midwife, where I got to champion immunisations.
Teaching experienceIn 2018, I switched gears to become a practice development nurse within surgery, guiding international nurses through their OSCE prep program. But my heart led me back to midwifery in 2021 as an infant feeding lead, where I tackled complex cases and led training for fellow healthcare pros. I recently wrapped up my Masters in academic practice, focusing on researching infant feeding.
Why did you start teaching?Throughout my 16-year NHS adventure, my passion for supporting and mentoring nurses and midwives has only grown stronger!
