Preparing for your OSCE exam at Northumbria

If you have booked or are looking to book your OSCE exam at the University Northumbria, here is some information about the campus and the exam process:
Northumbria’s NMC Test of Competence Centre is located at the Coach Lane Campus, approximately three miles from Newcastle city centre.
The University address for Coach Lane Campus is Northumbria University, Coach Lane Campus, Benton, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE7 7XA.
The OSCE exam process
Duration: The exam should roughly take 3 hours.
Before you arrive: Make sure you have completed the following before arrival
Watched the online briefing video, completed confidentiality agreement and Declaration, Completed the health declaration and Completed the NMC ID document form. You are required to bring only the documents listed on the form.
When you arrive, your photograph will be taken and stored in the database as proof of identity.
Friends & Family: friends and family including children are not permitted to wait for you in the OSCE test centre.
Your belongings: You will be asked to store your belongings in a small locker before moving to the waiting rooms. Please avoid bringing bulky clothing.
Please note: Once you have entered the competence test centre you will not be allowed to leave until the OSCE is finished.
How to get to the exam centre
• By rail:
You will arrive via train to Newcastle Central Train Station. The station has all major train line companies going through it, including TransPennine Express, Scotrail, Northern Rail, LNER and Cross Country.
A taxi rank can be found right outside Newcastle Central Station. You should ask the driver to take you to Northumbria University, Coach Lane West Campus. The fare will be in the region of £10. Alternatively, you can use the Stagecoach Number 1 bus service. The bus calls at the stop opposite the station, the journey will take around 30 minutes and the service terminate at Coach Lane Campus
By air:
The closest airport to the Competence Test Centre is Newcastle International Airport. You can also access the Competence Test Centre using a taxi directly from the airport. The airport has a designated taxi rank that is located just outside of arrivals at the airport. It will take approximately 20 minutes by taxi at a cost of around £20.
