How to pass the OET exam on the first try
The OET exam assesses the language communication skills of nurses and midwives who wish to register and practise in an English-speaking environment. The OET exam tests the Nurse or Midwife on 4 main areas which are reading, listening, speaking and writing. There is a list of tips that could help you pass the OET exam on your first try:
1. Learn about the test overview and structure! It is critical to feel at ease with the test's content. Understanding each segment of the exam and what it is assessing is a huge part of it. If you know what to expect on the test, you'll be able to concentrate on the questions and tasks at hand on test day.
2. Sharpen your skills! You can practise your English informally by making it part of your everyday speaking. Have a chat with a friend or a neighbour and try to put extra effort into the parts of the conversation you may struggle with. The more you use the language, the more confident you will feel.
3. Take a mock exam! Filling out practice tests throughout your preparation is always a good idea. It will not only familiarise you with the OET but will also help you identify your strengths and places for improvement. You can then tailor your studies to focus on your areas of weakness.
4. Rest before your exam! Take some time for yourself before the test to absorb all the knowledge you have learnt and to alleviate any test anxiety you might have. It is recommended to do something relaxing to raise your level of happiness instead of stressing about the exam. Make sure you do not sit up late the night before your exam. Getting at least 8 hours of sleep will surely help you with your performance when taking the test. Preparing everything you will need for test day the night before is always a good idea (like your ID).
5. Make sure to book your OET course with IELTS Medical! We can provide you with training by which you will be able to pass your exam on the first try. We have an excellent pass rate which gives our customers peace of mind as we provide them quality training.
