You don't know how to prepare yourself for your Plab 2 exam and where to look for the right resources? Don't worry about it, we are here to help you! This blog post contains the right information and resources to help you, including study tips.

What is Plab 2?

Plab 2 is an objective structure clinical exam (OSCE). It aims to reflect real-life settings, including a mock consultation or an acute ward up of 16 scenarios, each lasting eight minutes.

What is the difference between Plab 1 and Plab 2?

Plab 1 is slightly different from PLAB 2 and you would benefit from proper guidance to feel comfortable with both exams. Plab 1 consists of 180 MCQs that you have to finish it within 3 hours. For Plab 2 you have to take an OSCE and for that you have to be in the UK.

What resources should you use to prepare for your Plab 2 exam?

As one of the centres that help you with your Plab exams, we can give you access to different resources and a course. IELTS Medical has also created an app called Plab Doctors where you can access free skill videos and helpful boosters that can benefit you a lot and once you have chosen your course, we can also provide you with workshops and a course.

The Blueprint is also another resource that will help you a lot. The Blueprint is a guide to what the exam covers and can help you to prepare. It sets out the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you are expected to demonstrate in the exam and beyond. You can get access to this here.

Study tips to help you

At some point in life, all of us have had difficulties studying efficiently. This would be because there are distractions in your life or because other things get in the way of your studies. So, we have put aside some tips that will be helpful for you.

1.) Pick a place and time

Everyone has their idea about the best place and time to study. Whether it's your bedroom at night or the library after school, find a study space and a regular study time that works for you and stick with it.

Set up your study space – Your study space should be quite comfortable and distraction-free. It should make you feel happy and inspired. Decorate it with your favourite pictures or objects. If you want to listen to music or burn incense, pick a space that lets you do that.

Find your best time – Some people work better in the morning; others work better at night. Work out which time suits you and plan to study then. Don't study much later than your usual bedtime- pushing yourself late at night can make you too tired to study properly.

2.) Study every day

If you study a little bit every day, you'll be continually reviewing things in your mind. This helps you understand things. It also helps you avoid the stress of last-minute cramming.

Early in the course an hour or two a night might be enough to stay on top of things. Later in the course, you might need to study more each day.

If you're finding it hard to find time to study, cut back on some (but not all!) of your other activities. Prioritizing study might mean spending less time online, or it might mean cutting back on shifts at work, or giving the weekend sport a miss for a while.
