What is the NMC OSCE?
The OSCE is a practical exam that’s part of the NMC's Test of competence to ensure you can practice safely and effectively in the UK. Also, you need to be able to demonstrate that you have the skills, knowledge and behaviours that are at the level required to meet the NMC's pre-registration nursing standards.

The OSCE is designed to assess your ability to competently apply your professional nursing or midwifery skills and knowledge in the UK. It is set at the level expected of nurses and midwives as you enter the profession (at the point of registration). The objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) is a practical exam for nurses and midwives trained outside the European Union (EU) / European Economic Area (EEA) designed to test theoretical knowledge of nursing applied to clinical practice in the UK.

Preparing for an OSCE Exam – 5 tips to help you face your fears
1. Learn from any previous OSCE exams that you've done – but don't let them define your next one.
2. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.
3. Remember, you are already a nurse or midwife. It will boost your confidence!
