Two of these titles include OET Complete Coursebook for Doctors and OET Complete Coursebook for Nurses. This will help you pass your Occupational English Test the exam is tailored to health care professionals who wish to register and practice in an English-speaking environment. The exam is made up of listening, reading, writing, and speaking sections to test your ability in those areas. 

 

The listening section is made up of 3 different parts: Part A is worth 24 marks and is double marked by a trained OET assessor. You are provided with a set of case notes with 12 or more gaps, that you need to fill in. Part B is worth 6 marks and is marked by a computer. This consists of 6 questions where a statement of information is read aloud normally lasting 1 minute and there are 3 multiple-choice questions where you will be asked to answer one of the three. Part C is worth 12 marks and is marked by a computer. You will hear two extracts, each lasts 4-5 minutes. You must answer six multiple-choice questions per audio extract. These questions may focus on attitude, gist, or the opinion of the speaker. 

 

The reading section is split into 3 parts which last 60 minutes: Part A is worth 20 marks and lasts 15 minutes. In this section you are given a summary of four short texts with gaps, you will need to fill in the gap with the correct answer. There is a total of 20 questions. Part B is worth 6 marks and the purpose of these sections is to test your ability to quickly understand the main idea of short text and short sentences. This section is made up of 6 short texts with a range between 100-150 words. Part C is worth 16 marks and it’s about understanding the inferences, attitudes, and options of the writer and other people quotes in the text. There are 3 sections in which the candidate has 8 multiple-choice questions. 

 

The writing section is 45 minutes long and you have 5 minutes to read the case note which then you are expected to write 180-200 words. 

 

The speaking section is made up of 2 role-plays set in a typical workplace. The speaking section will last for 20 minutes, which is broken into different parts. The candidate has 3 minutes to prepare for each role play, in this time they can ask questions and make notes. Normally each role-play lasts for 5 minutes.
