Entry requirements to register with the NMC

- By (29 articles)
A trained nurse who wants to start their career in the UK, will have to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, which has to make sure you have the knowledge and skills to practice safely and effectively. We know the path is long, stressful, and quite expensive; that is why there is IELTS Medical! We will take care of all the necessary to make the process as smooth and quick as possible, taking all the stress you could incur out of the process!
The most important criteria is to hold an equivalent nursing qualification, at least at a foundation level (which goes beyond the secondary school and is just one level below a full undergraduate degree); without this qualification, you will not even be able to start your application. The requirements for the NMC are:
· Qualification Evaluation fee: £140.
· Registration fee: £153.
· CBT Exam: £83.
· OSCE Exam: £794.
However, these are not all the requirements. For example, if you do not hold an English certification, you will have to do the IELTS/OET Exam, which is approximately £185 and £320 respectively. You will also have to pay for the police clearance, which is an official police certificate issued as a result of a background check to disclose any criminal records or lack thereof. Some of the other required documents are:
· A valid passport.
· Qualification certificate translated in English (if you hold one).
· Declaration of disabilities or health conditions.
· Declaration of any police charges, convictions, or conditional charges.
· Declaration of any name changes.
· DBS Certificate.
