All you need to know about CBT
The CBT consists of 120 questions that include general nursing questions and domain-specific (Adult Nursing, mental health nursing, children’s nursing and midwifery) questions. There is a specific CBT test for each type of nursing. In this blog, I will be answering all the questions you need to know about the CBT exam.
How is the CBT exam structured?
Part A: Numeracy -15 marks in 3o minutes
Part B: Theory – 100 marks in 2 hours and 3o minutes
Usually, the examination tests you in these particular areas: professional values, communication and interpretation skills, nursing practice and decision making, leadership, management and team working.
How much does the exam cost and how long does the exam last?
The cost of the exam is £84 and the exam usually lasts 4 hours so that you have enough time to read the questions and double-check your answers before you submit the exam paper.
Where can I sit the CBT exam?
The CBT exam must be sat at a Pearson Vue centre and is available in most countries around the world. Before you book your exam, you must register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council to see if your qualifications are eligible for registration once you have done this and the NMC has confirmed that you are eligible you are able to book your CBT exam. How long will it take to receive my test results?
You will be able to view your results after 48 hours of doing your exam, you can find this on your Pearson Vue account.
