Alarming shortage of Doctors in the UK

- By (26 articles)
It’s a fact that the UK has been experiencing a deficit in the number of doctors working in the front lines lately. But according to the BMA (British medical association), this upcoming winter that shortage is so big that it “would require scaling up the medical workforce by an additional 31% - or an extra 49,162 full-time equivalent doctors.” This lack of almost 50.000 doctors in the UK can just be your opportunity to finally move to the UK and join the healthcare force.
Employment
We understand that one of the biggest worries of doctors that have a dream to move to the UK is finding work. But what comes to the country as a huge problem, can be your chance – let’s dare say even your guarantee – that you’ll get employment with no problem as long as you have the correct requirements of the GMC (general medical council) so you can get your license and practice in this lovely country.
Requirements
With that worry solved, it brings us to said requirements to get a license. If you have graduated medical school outside the UK in a non-English speaking country, you’ll be required to take:
· an English proficiency exam like IELTS or OET
· 2 separate medical assessment tests (PLAB) that will evaluate both:
o your theory knowledge (PLAB 1) and
o your practical skills in the medical sector (PLAB 2)
Preparing
All these exams can be really complicated and overwhelming to study for. And we at IELTS medical know that, that’s why we offer exclusive courses that will prepare you and teach you EVERYTHING you need to know so you can be ready and pass your tests in the first try with no trouble.
