Hi readers,
Today's blog post we will be talking about why you should become a doctor within the UK. There are many reasons for you to consider becoming a doctor within the UK. Some of these include the perks of being entitled to be paid annually within the first five years. You are entitled to 27 days and 8 bank holiday days; this increases every five years. But who does not like paid time off work the more the better and with the NHS, they help to increase this. Another huge benefit of working with the NHS is being eligible for paid sick leave; this is separate to your annual leave, meaning they will not be deducted from your annual leave days. Also, if you were to fall sick during your annual leave period you may be able to claim this back and use the annual leave for a time that suits better,
Maternity and paternity leave is yet another perk of the job as despite the length of time in your role, all pregnant employees are entitled to one year maternity leave. And it is illegal for your employer to fire you during this time, you may also be entitled to maternity pay depending on how long you have been working in the NHS. For any parents another benefit to consider is parental leave which means you are entitled to 18 weeks of parental leave for each child spread across 18 years, until your child is 18. This can be used for many reasons such as staying with them in hospital or helping them get settled into school or simply spending more time with them.
