Staying vigilant

We at IELTS Medical understand it can be difficult trying to find work in the UK, especially if you’re not yet based here. There are many details to take in and understand and we know you want to do everything just right.

This may be confusing and the application process when trying to find work in the UK can easily become tiresome due to the competitive nature of finding jobs in the medical sector, many job adverts have hundreds or thousands of applicants who are also very eager to begin the next step of their career.

Have you received a job offer or had contact with a recruitment agency that:

·       Initiated first contact with you when you didn’t expect?

·       Gave a time limit to push you into a decision?

·       Asked for too many personal details at an early stage?

·       Asked for financial commitments? (Accommodation fees/ training costs etc)

It’s important to stay vigilant:

Understandably, searching for your next job can become frustrating, especially if it takes a long time to receive responses or you’ve had multiple interviews without landing the job you really want.

Despite this, you must remain vigilant when searching. It can save you from finding yourself in a far more stressful situation further down the line.

To stay vigilant:

·       Check the wage, compare this with similar job adverts on indeed or other trusted job sites.

·       Check UK Tier Sponsors on the GOV.UK website to check the credibility of any offers.

·       Check the NHS Employers website Ethical Recruiters list to find recruitment organisations that operate within the code of practice.

·       Check the grammar and spelling of the content sent to you. Legitimate organisations are highly unlikely to make errors of this type.
