overstretched hospital wards’

During this pandemic, it is clear to see that the UK is suffering from shortage of Nurses and Midwives. This is due to the health care system capacity. The NHS is one of the largest employers in the world, and the biggest in Europe – with over 1.3 million staff. On a typical day, there are:

·         835,000 people who visit a GP practice

·         50,000 people visiting A&E departments

·         36,000 patients in hospital for planned treatment

With the figures above being a typical day, disregarding Covid-19, there is a comprehensible struggle with the on-going circumstances.

£1 Billion with the NHS accounts for:

1.       Annual budget for a large hospital such as Nottingham University Hospital

2.       Pay the salaries of 11,000 consultants for a year

3.       Running the NHS for 3 days

4.       Pay the salaries of 31,000 Nurses and health visitors for a year

5.       Cover 20 days of adult social care spent by local councils

This is why IELTS Medical exists. We aim to provide more opportunities to Nurses who would like to come to the UK and work for a job that they are passionate for, for a bonus. An average Nurse working in the Philippines would make 22,000PHP a month (£329.26) compared to £2083.33 a month in the UK.
