What is Notting Hill Carnival?
Notting Hill Carnival is in a word a celebration of the UK's thriving Caribbean community. It's free to attend and it's considered to be Europe's largest street-based festival; the world's second largest carnival with only Rio De Janeiro's surpassing it. The parade includes colourful outfits, delicious Carribean cuisine and steel drums.
Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event that has been running since 1966, but what made 2022's Notting Hill Carnival extra special, was that it was the first of its kind since the pandemic.
Where is Notting Hill Carnival?
As the name suggests, it's primarily in Notting Hill, but the procession also goes through Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Park, Westbourne Grove and Bayswater.
How was Notting Hill Carnival 2022?
In a word? Vibrant. The energy of the crowds who came out in a jubilant force, was electric. The music seemed straight out of the Brazillian streets and the atmosphere was soaked in the aroma of the Jerk Chicken barbeques around every corner.
