The MRCGP (Membership of Royal College of GPs) is the medical qualification that confirms a doctor can practice as a GP in the UK. The exam consists of 13 clinical and communication stations.
The MRCGP Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) is a computer-based test that only takes place 3 times a year at various Pearson VUE test centres across the UK. This test is required for every UK based GPs. Passing the AKT exam means the trainee has the mandatory knowledge to work as a GP.
