Working in the UK
In order to start working as a nurse or a midwife in the UK, you must first register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the NMC. Before the NMC can allow you to practice healthcare in the UK, they require you to pass a number of exams, including an English language proficiency exam. These are the IELTS or OET exams, which test your ability to read, write, listen and speak in English.
