How to cope if you fail your exam

Passing your IELTS/OET and PLAB tests can be overwhelming. And sometimes, you might not pass in the first try. But that’s okay! In this blog post I’ll share some tips on things you can do to if you fail and how to prepare yourself for the next try!

1.    Don’t give up

I know failing is hard. I hate failing! But remember this very popular yet wise saying “there’s no comfort in the growth zone and no growth in the comfort zone”. Your mistakes are an opportunity to learn and do differently next time. Don’t give up on yourself and on taking your exam just because you had a hard time on the first try. Have a positive attitude!

2.    Make an assessment list

What’s an assessment list? Is a list where you’ll register:

·      everything you learned during the study and exam taking process

·      things that you know now but didn’t know before taking the exam

·      things you can do better next time

·      things you will do differently next time and

·      things you did well this time

Making this list will help you have a visual representation of how far you’ve come, things you can still improve and what mistakes you’ve made in the past so you can work on it for next time.

3.    Take a professional training course

These exams can be really daunting. Having proper material and a tutor who knows every aspect of the exam, can teach you specifically how to prepare, can guide you on your studies, correct your mistakes and help you improve is a key differential between passing and failing. The expectations of your test are really high but so is the quality of the tutors and the material available to you here at IELTS medical.
